La exposición Californa Dreamin Myths and Legends of Los Angeles, nace de una idea de Hedi Slimane, quién también es el conservador. La muestra tendrá lugar en la galería de Paris, Almine Rech Galley, del 26 de Febrero al 26 de Marzo. En colaboración con la galería, surgió un paisaje artístico y la idea de la exposición fue establecida, ilustrada por una frase de Hedi Slimane sobre el concepto:
“El enfoque es a través de símbolos, signos y fragmentos, una pequeña red, negro o blanco, por la memoria o la mitología o la propaganda de otro modo íntimo y lo público …”
Estos son algunos nombres de los artistas que han sido invitados a participar: John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Bruce Conner, John McCracken, Aaron Young, Aaron Curry, Dennis Hopper y muchos más …
Obras de los fallecidos recientemente Bruce Conner y Dennis Hopper, ambos personajes y artistas emblemáticos de la cultura de California, también harán parte de la exposición. Se publicará un catálogo con motivo de la exposición con un texto de Christopher Bedford, conservador jefe de exposiciones del Centro de Artes Wexner (Columbus, Ohio) y un especialista en la escena de California.

Californa Dreamin Myths and Legends of Los Angeles exhibition, envisioned and curated by Hedi Slimane, will be held at the Almine Rech Gallery (Paris) from february 26 to March 26 of 2011. In collaboration with the gallery, artistic landscape emerged and the idea of the showing was set up, illustrated by Hedi Slimane´s words about the concept of the exhibition:
“The approach is through symbols, signs and fragments, a small net, black and/ or white, by memory or mythology or otherwise intimate and public propaganda …” These are a few names of the artists that have been invited to participate: John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Bruce Conner, John McCracken, Aaron Young, Aaron Curry, Dennis Hopper and many more…
Works by late Bruce Conner and Dennis Hopper, both characters and iconic artists of the Californian culture will also be part of the exhibition. A catalog will be published on the occasion of the exhibition with a text by Christopher Bedford, chief curator of exhibitions of the Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus, Ohio) and a specialist in California scene.
